Small Business Classes

Small Business Classes

We’re excited to reimagine Camp ThunderCraft for 2026! Beginning this year, we will be moving to an every-2-year date pattern at Camp Burton. On the off-years (like this one!) we’ll be offering Saturday Sessions—-a more accessible way to get the business education and community connection you love about Camp ThunderCraft, without committing to a full weekend away.

Join us at our Seattle office for Saturday Sessions in February and March. Choose from three focused business classes and attend the ones that fit your needs—or stay for the full day. The day wraps up with a Social Club at a nearby establishment, where you can connect with fellow makers and continue the conversation.

We know times are tough, and we want to make sure our community has access to the tools and support to thrive. Saturday Sessions are designed to be flexible, affordable, and packed with practical insights you can use right away.

Space is extremely limited—register today to secure your spot!

(And, if you’re already excited for Camp ThunderCraft 2027 at Camp Burton, just sign up here to be the first to know once we open registration for our bi-annual small business retreat on beautiful Vashon Island!)

virtual (zoom) classes

We are pleased to announce that we are now offering select classes via Zoom for those unable to visit our SODO office in Seattle.

Each Zoom class includes course materials and a recording of the session. If you cannot attend the live session but are interested in the content, the recording will be available after the class for purchase separately.

Are you looking to sell at more craft shows this year? Are you having difficulty getting into shows? Kristen and Heather will do a deeper dive into a myriad of topics from applying to vending. We will cover everything from picking the right shows for you, to how to apply if you are an omnicrafter, to photo submissions, to what to do at the show itself (or what to do if you are rejected).
Kristen has been a craft show vendor for 30 years and an organizer for nearly 18 years. Heather has been working in show production with various groups for 15 years. We hope to answer a lot of questions, demystify some of the process and leave you feeling excited to get in the craft show game once you leave. We HIGHLY suggest registering Irene Rex’s class “Market Booth Design Strategies” (via Zoom on May 13th) to help you strategize your booth design! It’s a perfect pairing of two classes.

Getting into markets is just the first step – the pay off comes in making the market experience a good one! We’ll cover clever strategies for creating portable structures & displays for all budgets & physical/transport limitations (no more defaulting to heavy plywood!) that can adapt to different booth sizes while ensuring faster load-in/load-out too, thanks to efficient packing systems. You’ll leave knowing how to draw in more shoppers by accentuating at a glance what sets your products apart from the competition. Includes a few case studies as examples + Q&A at the end!
