Bio: I’m a historian who, through researching and teaching about American cocktail culture, developed a line of DIY cocktail bitters kits. The botanical mixes at the core of each bitter flavor have been curated over 4 years of research and development. Our flavors reflect both history and place. Our logo was inspired by a 1907 whiskey label from a Spokane Bar representative of the stories of drinking history in the West.
I gather all the materials and handmake each kit in the Pacific Northwest. Kits include the curated collection of the botanical-herb mix, cheesecloth bag, eyedropper bottle, funnel, instructional booklet with history, step-by-step guide, and cocktail recipes.
In addition to Badass Bitters, I develop and teach cocktail history and mixology classes and curate and sell vintage barware. I am currently working on a book project, Drinking Washington History.
