Bio: My name is Courtney Jafferian and I started Splat in 2019 after finishing business school. I grew up on the East Coast but always wanted to be closer to agriculture and food so I moved to California to study nutritional consulting. Although the schooling didn’t work out, I pursued health studies independently and through community college. When I moved to Washington I quickly (and slightly accidentally) got into fermentation. I had a huge garden and worked in a brewery which allowed me to both start fermenting foods and learn about the science behind it. After finishing business school, all signs pointed a fermented hot sauce business. So here I am! Splat enacts my values dreams of prioritizing people and planet, not just profit and being part of an empowing community of woman run company.
