My name is Marjorie Austin Flores, but I have always been called Austin. I love working outdoors, natural history, gardening and painting. I quit my job with king county parks a few months after I became a mother, and I have been earning side money by painting commissioned pet portraits in watercolor and gauche. I want to turn my painting into a business, so I am here to learn and ask questions. Specifically I hope to meet other people who have navigated starting and running a business through parenthood.
Elevator Pitch: The ancient relationship between humans and “pets” is very fascinating to me. It feels magical that two different creatures cans bond like family, protect and bring each other joy. This is the magic I strive to capture in my portraits. I have a realistic, detailed style.
